Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer Training Program
Comprehensive Training for Armed Security Certification:
The Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer Training Program provides complete
preparation for individuals seeking to qualify for armed security positions. This 45-hour
certification course is the required qualification level for security professionals who wish to carry
a handgun while on duty. The comprehensive curriculum combines classroom instruction,
practical defensive tactics training, and hands-on firearms qualification to ensure graduates are
thoroughly prepared for the responsibilities of armed security work. Our program structure and
content deliver a balanced approach to security training through classroom instruction, covering
legal aspects, use of force continuum, situational awareness, threat assessment, documentation
requirements, and professional conduct.
Defensive Tactics Training: Practical techniques for non-lethal response, restraint methods, and
self-defense tactics. Students will also receive extensive training on handcuffing and baton
strikes.
Scenario-Based Training: Utilizing state-of-the-art smokeless range systems to practice decisionmaking in realistic simulations. This additional training tests the student’s knowledge from the
classroom presentation.
Handgun Qualification: Live-fire training and qualification testing to verify proficient and safe
firearms handling Upon successful completion of the classroom portion and written examination,
students proceed to the handgun qualification phase.
Additionally, all graduates will be referred to for the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality
Inventory (MMPI) psychological evaluation, which is a requirement for commissioned security
officers. The cost of this evaluation is the responsibility of the student.
Cost: $300.00 per person
Course Duration: 45 hours total (classroom and range qualification)
Equipment Requirements: – Personal handgun – 50 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear
protection. Students are responsible for all range fees. Handguns may also be rented from the
range at the student’s cost.
Rescheduling Policy: Students may reschedule twice at no additional cost with 24-hour advance
notice. Failure to provide timely notification will result in forfeiture of rescheduling privileges.
After two rescheduling attempts, no refund will be provided.
Refund Policy: – No-shows forfeit the full amount paid – Students who fail either the classroom
or range portions after two attempts will not receive refunds – Additional training attempts
require payment of the full course fee. This training program meets all Texas state requirements
for Level III security officer certification and provides the foundation for a successful career in
professional armed security services.
Rescheduling
If you cannot make your initially scheduled class, you may reschedule that class two times at no additional cost if you have notified us within 24 hours of the class. If you do not notify us within this time frame, your refund will not be considered. If you are still unable to make the class after two attempts to reschedule, no refund will be given.
Refund Policy
All no-shows forfeit the full amount paid.
If you fail the classroom/range portions of the training, you will not be given a refund after two attempts. You may attend the course again for the full amount.
