Getting Started as a Licensed Security Officer

When you are ready to apply for a Security Officer License in Texas, you must be at least 18 years of age or older (you must be 21 or older to work for Shield Security & Training Solutions), have passed a Texas Department of Public Safety background check, and be a citizen of the United States; have a resident alien card (a green card), or have a work authorization card. You must also have taken the 8-hour pre-assignment security officer training class before applying. If you are not licensed as at least a level II security officer, we can provide this certification at an additional cost.

 

Training Required for Security Officers in Texas

Security officers must meet the minimum standards set forth by the Department Of Public Safety rule 35.141.

Filing Fees in Texas

All filling fees will be in accordance with the Department Of Public Safety rule 35.131.

 

Maintaining Your Registered Security Officer Status

Once you have obtained your security officer license, you will receive notifications from the Department of Public Safety PSP division, when it is time to renew your license.
